CRUDEN FARM: DAME ELISABETH’S INSTRUCTIONS

This is the schedule to the Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Trust that governs the affairs of Cruden Farm. Signed on 30 March 2007, it may not reflect the circumstances that exist on 26 April 2017, a decade later.

But it would be surprising if major changes have been made. Keith Rupert Murdoch may no longer be the lead trustee, following assurances from trustees that Mr Murdoch has no influence over the trust, but the likelihood is that his mother Dame Elisabeth Murdoch’s clear intentions for her beloved property are as stated here.

The document contains no mention by Dame Elisabeth of subdividing Cruden Farm (cl 6.7). The only reference to subdivision is followed by the words “(other than Cruden Farm)”. This comes amid references to “property donated to the Trust”; possibly something Dame Elisabeth was contemplating could occur.

She also contemplates “that family members may wish to make gifts to the Trust” (Statement of Intentions, point C).

The final page of the document is omitted. It contains only details of witnesses.

Click on each page to read if you find the print too small. The page will open in a new window. Close the window after reading and proceed to the next page and repeat the procedure … a little clumsy, but Bandicoot could not find a way to load the Schedule as a single document.

  1. Thank you Mr. Bandicoot, points 6.7 is clear that Cruden Farm is excluded and point 6.13 clearly says maintain, enhance and expand the entire property. If the intention was to sell off part of the grounds why hasn’t this been clearly stated in a specific item in the will document? This action by the Trustees is really no different to the Ansett Trustees trying to subdivide green wedge land in Kunyung Road Mount Eliza for charity. That hasn’t worked for them to date and certainly has not gained support at any level of Government.
